Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, I witnessed firsthand how institutions intended to serve communities often failed to do so instead. That early exposure stayed with me. It fueled a personal mission: to transform institutions – with innovation, with courage, and with collaboration. Throughout my career, I’ve never shied away from hard truths or tough problems. Whether as a young advocate or later leading one of the nation’s largest prosecutor’s offices, my motivation has remained the same: create lasting, meaningful impact by building systems that are future-proof, equitable, and strong.

• As Cook County State’s Attorney, I reimagined what public safety could look like, spearheading bail reform and championing efforts to abolish cash bail groundbreaking work that shifted the national conversation.
• I successfully led a workforce of over 1,300 employees across four generations, restructuring leadership pipelines, creating strategic partnerships, and driving operational transformation after 45 years of stagnation.
• I didn’t just reform; I built new foundations – fostering collaboration among activists, academics, policymakers, and traditionalists to move complex ideas from vision to action.
