My journey into healthcare started with a simple but powerful moment. When I was four years old, I overheard my mom telling my older brother, “You are my last chance to be a doctor,” and that stuck with me. I thought, “Well, that’s awkward… because I’m sitting right here.” No pressure, right? It lit a fire in me—one that pushed me toward becoming a doctor, even though I didn’t yet understand the bigger picture of healthcare accessibility.
As I progressed in my career, I began to see the complexity of the healthcare system and how many people—especially those from underserved communities—struggled to access the care they needed. Instead of accepting the status quo, I took it as a challenge. It became clear that healthcare wasn’t just about providing care in a clinical setting—it was about fighting for those who couldn’t easily access it. That’s when I realized my mission: quality healthcare for all. I made it my life’s work to simplify healthcare, advocate for policy changes, and ensure that everyone, no matter their background, has access to the care they deserve.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to healthcare in ways that go beyond patient care. With deep clinical expertise in pediatric and internal medicine, as well as a background in managed Medicaid and policy, I’ve built a track record of success by leveraging innovation, leadership, and advocacy.
I founded and managed a large private primary care practice, increasing revenue by 40% through the launch of a cash-based, physician-supervised wellness and weight loss program. My entrepreneurial mindset and ability to optimize resources have consistently delivered both quality care and financial success.
In a particularly challenging role, I reversed the performance of a severely underperforming behavioral health unit, achieving state readiness in just nine months. By insourcing, training, and recruiting new providers, I helped the unit not only recover but thrive.
Time and time again, I have demonstrated clinical leadership in areas like utilization management, care coordination, disease management, pharmacy, and quality management. My efforts have resulted in perfect NCQA accreditation scores and multimillion-dollar savings for the organizations I’ve worked with. The trust I’ve built within my teams has allowed us to achieve sustainable, long-term results.
The healthcare system is complex—not just from a clinical perspective but also from a business and operational standpoint. What sets me apart is my ability to bridge these worlds and articulate their complexities in a way that non-business and non-clinical leaders can understand. Whether leading teams in clinical settings, advocating for policy changes, or driving innovative solutions, I bring a holistic perspective to the table, ensuring that both strategy and patient outcomes align.
In any organization, I’m committed to optimizing healthcare delivery while keeping the focus on equity and quality. My work with Medicaid in Texas—a state with restrictive policies—demonstrates my ability to navigate complex environments and push for progress, even when the odds are stacked against me. I translate clinical knowledge into strategic policies, ensuring that even in the most challenging circumstances, people receive the care they deserve.
As I look to the future, my goal is to continue expanding my impact—whether as a CEO, CMO of a health plan, or a board director. I’m eager to contribute my expertise in both clinical operations and policy-making to an organization that values innovation, strategic thinking, and equitable healthcare solutions.
